This series should have some great highlight reel saves and goals in it.

If the Canes have the magic like they did in that past , mostly 2006 magic , Then all i have to say is these things ( if you are a canes fan then sit back and enjoy a cup win hehe) if you are not a canes fan . THEN YOU BETTER PRAY TO YOUR HOCKEY GODS CAUSE THERE IS NO STOPPING THIS JUGGERNAUT !

    Explicit language warning

Damn it why do my caps have to to face the hurricanes. Like I’m sorry Canadians (and a few northeastern season), but the very vocal minority of arrogant fans who think that the south don’t deserve hockey are so fucking obnoxious. I wanted the canes to do well in the playoffs so these ignorant pricks would just shut the fuck up.

Will be an exciting match-up and Carolina will be rocking after going 10 years without playoffs. It would be nice to see Carolina go far and it does seem like feast or famine for Carolina. Washington will win based on having Alexander Ovechkin and the offense and Brayden Holtby the better goalie. Washington in seven but it'll be an entertaining series.

I think this is the series that just might be the first round upset that we usually see come playoff time. Especially since there seems to be only two other series (imo) that could be classified as an "upset", those being Colorado over Calgary and Columbus over Tampa. Should be a fun one to watch, but then again all the series come playoff time are, which is why from beginning to end the NHL has the best playoffs of all sports.

I'm originally from Raleigh and the canes (along with the Durham Bulls minor league baseball) were my team when I was younger. Still a fan at heart even though my allegiance has moved to Nashville. If my Preds can't get it done then I hope the Canes pull it off again. I remember the cup in '06. What a time to be a canes fan. It'd be great to see that again.

Shan is huge on the Canes!
They are interesting. Ill give you that. Absolutely over-achieved. (LOL @ Habs fans)
But Washington should win this series. They always blow a game or two to make things interesting. Caps in 6.

Could see Carolina winning in 6. Wouldnt be surprised if they split the first two games and then win the next 2 at home to take a 3-1 series lead. If the caps win the first 2 at home should be an easy series win for them. Gotta love the playoffs lol

If it comes down to a goalie battle, Mike Bales has done very well with Carolina's netminders. Rod has let him make all the decisions this season for that position, where as in the Bill Peters era, almost all the assistant coaches were generally brushed off if he didn't agree with them. IF the Canes can not take stupid penalties, and IF they can staple Slavin to Ovechkin so he doesn't set up in his office, and IF Aho can identify the snake that bite him so they can find the right anti-venom, then this is going to be a very long and entertaining series. Otherwise, hey we had fun right?

In the back to back…in Washington it was really a 2-1 game for most …excellent goaltending & defense with both teams but Canes could not generate any offense…so nice on the D but bad on the O…second game
was all Holtby…stood on his head!

The first game is so important if they can get to OT and some how win that would give them confidence. First game is the crucial game! GO CANES!
Aho needs to come out of his goal slump for them to win. & their PP needs to be better!

Oh and last comment here on this one as some1 who lives in columbus and recently went to their home game vs the islanders I dont understand why they ever got rid of (ima spell it wrong) mclhenny? I though he was a pretty damn solid back up behinde bob the only reason I can think of letting home go would be money n age maybe.

First off, great vid Hockey Guy!! 👍🏽👍🏽
I adopted the Canes as my second team when I moved to NC. I have followed them since 1997 when they came from Hartford. The southern/non-traditional market teams may not have the historic appeal and aura of the Original 6 teams but I have always enjoyed the underdog role. I get it…they aren’t suppose to win this. They weren’t suppose to beat Boston and New Jersey in 2009. I took the playoffs and success of Chicago for granted and watching Carolina fight in a superpower division like the Metro has reshaped my view of the sport. Go Canes!

The two consistent pieces in all three of those deep Canes playoff runs were Eric Cole and Rod. He was wearing the A to Francis in ‘02, and the C both other years. He may not have been as productive in the ‘09 run, but I feel like him as head coach will make a big difference.

I just realized your wild cards for Carolina.

Svech: the piece that I believe fired this team up with scoring those late 2 goals in game 1 which gave them some life. and then of course his fight against Ovi that made the team rally around his absence.

Brock McGinn: the most memorable canes moment of the last 10 years, striking the finishing blow in 2OT, and not to mention the sprawling save he made late in regulation force OT
